Joe Tobiason
Washington State elopement and wedding photographer based in Seattle
I’m not here to make photos that simply remind you what you did on your wedding day, but rather to make you feel how you felt all over again.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOUR WEDDING WASN’T BEING PHOTOGRAPHED?
CELEBRATE YOUR WEDDING LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING
The last few years changed everything, weddings included. While for some, the pandemic introduced innumerable wedding planning pains and challenges. For others it shifted elopements from the thing you did if your parents didnโt approve to a true celebration of whatโs truly important when all the extra stuff melts away. Itโs a way to create the day youโve truly dreamed of, and you will cherish those memories forever.
IT’S ONLY YOUR DAY
As couples begin to talk through their elopement plan, I like to ask, โWhat would you do if your day wasnโt being photographed?โ I know thatโs a strange question from a photographer, but it helps make the story true to you, not anyone elseโs expectations.
CELEBRATE EVERYWHERE
Whether that day is a sunrise mountaintop elopement in the Cascades, the Olympic Peninsula, your parent’s backayrd or a large ceremony at a venue in Seattle, that guiding light of authenticity will tell your story through photography. I often say that Iโm a โpeople photographer.โ While I love the pageantry and beauty of weddings, the story Iโm excited to tell is about the humans who inhabit those dresses and suits. I love hearing individual stories and seeking out the depth a sacred day can hold. My job is to capture those memories that people want to remember their whole lives.

BORN IN THE PNW
The Evergreen State is in my blood and on my skin. Iโve lived my whole life in Washington State and I have tattoos of both the Kingdome and Mt. Rainier. Iโve climbed our mountains, slept under the stars (and in the rain), been chased by the ocean waves and Iโm honored to help you make memories in this place that is so dear to me.
