Jo and Melissa are classic Northwesterners. It was supposed to pour rain on their Pike Place engagement shoot, so we were ready. Instead, we were gifted the most classic of Seattle mornings and everyone took well advantage of it.
The couple met at a Halloween party a couple years ago. They went on a couple dates and really hit it off. Melissa is actually good family friends with Erika’s family, so was quick to hear about the budding relationship. A few weeks later, she ran into Jo and asked “have you met someone.” “Well, why yes I have.” he replied, not knowing that there were good things being said on his behalf as well. The two of them are great friends and avid Seahawks fans. Jo proposed with his Christmas card, but pointed out, there are not many “will you marry me” cards out there. He had to adjust a wedding card to make it fit. So, if Hallmark is reading this blog, get on that.
For the engagement session, we wanted to show northwest life. So, we went to the most classic Seattle location, Pikes Place. It’s so different in the winter. The crowds are smaller and it’s fun to see people who actually use the market as a way to get food, not just a tourist center (I still avoid the fish throwers because you can’t get by). We had a great time exploring the depths, angles and crannies of this huge center. It’s so fun to be a tourist in your own town sometimes.
Jo and Melissa were so relaxed and easy to work with. They are going to have one awesome party in October and I’m so excited to be a part of it.
