We had high hopes for an epic sunrise in the mountains for Geoff and Karen’s Gold Creek Pond engagement photos, but the grey of dawn crept into the gray of day. Through that, the joy of these two’s smile lit and warmed the morning walk around Snoqualmie Pass.

It is definitely a little trying on the body to get up for sunrise shoots like this. We met at the couples house in Ballard long before the sun was up, but what that does is gives me more time to just hang out with awesome people and hear more about what has brought them together. To learn more about the dreams, joys and things they’ve worked through together.

It definitely was not the glorious sun-lit morning that we had hoped for but for these two PNWers, it almost seems more fitting to embrace the gray and just live their mountain life.

Thanks again to Geoff and Karen for waking up early to hang out in the mountains with me. I can’t wait for your wedding this summer!
