Though she might be a grad student at a different UW, Francesca and Nils’ UW engagement was a fun Tuesday afternoon. The cherry blossoms were out and it was even dry for our afternoon on the quad.
Nils and Francesca both have huge hearts. They met while working for an orphanage through Finca del Niño in Honduras. They worked to provide safe homes for kids, education and safety, and care for their their volunteer community. Once state-side again, they both have continued this quest. Nils works as the interim High School director at University Presbyterian in Seattle, while Francesca is getting a Masters in Social Work at the University of Wisconsin (the other UW).
Spring is such a finicky thing here in Seattle. One minute it is raining, while the next sunny. One thing you can count on is the beauty of the cherry blossoms at the University of Washington. Our relaxed afternoon drifted from one tree to the next, into buildings and eventually to Magnuson Park as well. Throughout it all, Nils and Francesca were incredible. They laughed at my terrible jokes (and accidentally calling them by the wrong name), but more showed how deeply they love each other. I hope that though their near future will lead them from the Emerald City, that I’ll have a chance at some point to be near these two. They are wonderful humans.
