On any given off day, I am going to be at least considering a hike in the woods. So, when Carrie and Chris reached out, saying that they wanted to do their engagement shoot as a hike, somewhere in the cascades, I just got giddy. As we started to plan more and more, we could tell it was going to be a fantastic day. The couple was in town from Vermont (where they live) visiting family and planning for their wedding this summer at Golden Gardens. After a lot of time on the Washington Trails Association website, we decided that a Lake 22 Engagement was the best choice for a sunset hike, beautiful views and something we could safely hike out under head lamps.
After a few days of not sun, we could tell on the way up that this was going to be a spectacular night.
Even on the approach, they made me smile.
Then, we arrived at Lake 22. It was so still and the wall face was so stunning. While they changed into their fancy clothes, I made a few photos of just the landscape (and started swatting mosquitos)
Once they had swapped out, we started making our way around the lake, trying to make photos that showed off their love for each other as well as the beautiful space we were in.
Seriously, I love these images! How is beauty like this possible?
You know, I think they kinda like each other.
Once making it around to the far side of the lake, it was time to pull out the drinks. Two Beers and Seattle Cider were some of their first drinks when they started dating here in the Emerald City. So, it seemed only natural to bring them along in the beer bag and stop for a drink.
And then, the sun started to set, making the surrounding mountains turn a beautiful rose colored.
Honestly, these two make everyone smile.
Thank you again to Carrie and Chris for this awesome afternoon! It was so fun getting to know you both better and I can’t wait for your wedding!
