Officiants pull lots of inspiration for their homilies. I’ve heard quotes from great figures in history, important texts, and family sayings, but the officiant for Caleb and Nina’s Preston Community Center wedding used a first when he pulled from a “great philosopher who can hold three tennis balls in his mouth.” In hindsight, it seems only fitting to be pulling inspiration from the love that a golden retriever gives. But, the day was so much more than an homage to the pup. It really was a beautiful celebration of the love that Caleb and Nina have.
We started the day with their first look alone along the river’s edge. It was a perfect and beautiful space to spend a few minutes just letting them be themselves. We then headed back to the center for the ceremony. Everyone loved watching Caleb tear up (partly because of Nina and partly because his best man was tearing up too). After some incredible tacos, we headed off to go play in the abandoned Preston Mill Park. It was beautiful to get to see these two, who just love each other so much, spend the last few minutes of light playing in the field.
Thank you again to Caleb and Nina for letting me be a part of this incredible day. I can’t wait to share more images soon. It was truly a beautiful celebration.
