I first met Deanna at Louisville Seminary before we each were to go to spend a year working for NGOs in the developing world. As I headed to Peru, she headed to Kenya, but our teams remained close. Using each other as emotional support, though the time zones made phone calls rather difficult. A few years later, I was overjoyed to see my friend move to the Emerald City for work and even more happy to get to start going on double dates as she and Bo began seeing each other. Erika and I took them up to snowshoe at Snow Lake and I took a few awkward photos of them posing together (it was definitely a little early to have their posed photos together). But the real joy has been seeing the depth of their relationship strengthen as they built up toward yesterdays All Pilgrims Church wedding, surrounded by friends from far and near. It was a truly joyous celebration.
Bo was crying before Deanna even tapped him on his shoulder. It was just so wonderful.
My favorite part from the ceremony was that they chose to jointly share their vows, stating “we do” to each refrain.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Bo and Deanna for letting me be a part of this day. It was one that will make me smile forever.
